Harvest news and collections(posted: 11-10-2012)
Dear Richdon Koi Club Member
What a weekend, our 50 & 100,000gallon harvests went very well.
For those of you who missed out our harvest video’s will be on our website shortly.
For those of you who have a koi being grown on in the 50 or 100k, and are not growing them with us next year we ask that you collect them as soon as possible, ideally this weekend!
PLEASE Collect your Koi
We have now placed all up to date photographs of all those koi which can be collected this weekend, so please check your koi on our website to ensure there is a October 2012 picture.
We have more to photograph early next week, but these are mainly staying with us for 2013.
PLEASE email us if you can or cannot collect this weekend!
Weekday collections are NOT possible sorry.
The following two weekends Richard will be in Japan so this is also difficult for us. We do however need to remind you that ALL koi not being grown with us for 2013 HAVE to be collected by November 4th or a weekly £10 charge per koi will be applied, as per our terms in the spring.
We are short on larger boxes, so if you have any please bring them along, BUT leave them in your car, we cannot have any brought into our facility for bio-security reasons.
New koi for sale:-
We now have some koi for sale for the first time this weekend which have been harvested from the 50k, so now being Nisai they have done very well in our growing facility since only being Tosai this Spring.
For those koi which are being grown in the 100k in 2013, these koi are now in their isolated over winter pond and will be held at 10c, to ensure they are conditioned and ready for the growing season next year. We do not agree with keeping them warm all winter to increase growth for commercial reasons.
We follow most breeders in Niigata practices and follow their advice for long term healthy and quality koi.
Here are a few examples of the koi for sale this weekend from the 50k-
These all qualify to be grown next season in the 100,000gallon pond
Scroll down on each page to see the latest picture along with its current size.
2013 growing season news:-
Upgrade:- After the success of the 50,000gallon upgrade and the addition of a Oase drum filter, we plan to add two Oase drum filters to the 100,000gallon pond in the New Year.
Bio-Security 2013 - For those of you who have a koi being grown with us next year, for bio-security reasons you will ONLY be the ones allowed to view our growing ponds. Although showing new potential customers these facilities is good for our business we know that keeping your koi as bio-secure as possible is paramount.
NO Over wintering of koi.
This year we are sorry to report that we will NOT be keeping any koi over winter for those who are un-heated or even heated.
This service is not cost effective for us and we would have to charge more for this service than we feel acceptable. We may review this for 2013/2014 winters.
We hope this does not cause too much upset for those un-heated.
Please remember this if buying from our Japan pages (more on this next week).
All koi have to be collected before Christmas.
Due to upgrades on the 100,000gallon pond we have for sale TWO Ultra-sieve III's and two Bioo Max 75's
These come complete with -Sieve, Bio-Max 75 and beads for £900 (No pump)
If interested please contact us, collection only and prior notice required.
