Harvest weekend 6th & 7th(posted: 04-10-2012)
50 & 100k Harvest weekend
This weekend is our Harvest of the 50,000 & 100,000gallon ponds
If you wish to come along then PLEASE email me email@example.com to book your place, failure to do this may result in being turned away.
This process is in place to coordinate our strict bio-security measures, and document everyone attending.
For those who have emailed me, we thank you, but if you haven't had a reply please get in touch again.
On Saturday morning at 11am PROMPT we will seine net our 50,000gallon tosai pond
Once harvested these koi will be deemed Nisai.
In this pond we have over 20 VERY special koi, which will be for sale on the day.
ALL koi can be grown in the 100,000gallon pond next year, but we need to know and payment of £195 to secure your place.
For those visiting you will be amazed at the results this year and especially the water clarity. This is mainly down to the filtration change we made early this year and the instalment of a Oase drum filter.
We have also considered our bio-security options for next year, and ONLY hobbyists who have koi growing with us, may visit either the 50k or 100k next year. To others we will continue our lock down protection of these facilities, please understand.
On Sunday morning at 11am PROMPT we will seine net our 100,000gallon nisai and older pond. This year we intend to drain down some of the water to enable us to enter the pond to aid in lifting some of the larger koi out.
We have some koi over 90cm, and yes grown from 10cm in a few years.
We are very pleased with the results this year and even though the summer has not been great it will be an event not to miss.
This year we ask that any koi coming out of the 100k which has been grown for more than 1 season HAS to be collected. Whilst it is great to see very large koi being harvested from this pond, we have to consider the smaller 50 to 70cm koi to be grown.
On the day there will be little if any opportunities for hobbyists to take clear pictures, we need to handle each koi carefully and move to their specific conditioning ponds smoothly, with no delays.
OF course a individual clear photograph will be taken next week, which will be MUCH better for your records.
Don't worry if you can't make it, a harvest video is planned to be distributed again.
Over this weekend there will be NO collections of ANY koi.
We ask that all koi that are to be collected from the 50k and 100k are done so the following weekend. Richard will be away for the following two weekends, so the weekend of the 13th and 14th is the best weekend for collection. We are sorry, but due to our workload we cannot have any collections during the week, weekends only please. For the larger koi we cannot offer an overnight courier service sorry, please understand.
Koi will be held at or around 15c ready for your collection
Failure to collect any of these koi by Saturday 27th October will result in a weekly fee of £10 until the end of November, with a higher charge being implemented after this time period. Due to increasing numbers of koi being left with us beyond the deadlines set we have to take drastic measures to relieve our responsibility of your koi. Please understand!
We still have a few more koi to be collected, these have already gone past their deadline of collection, please get in touch.
Sorry we cannot have any collections this weekend, due to our workloads with the harvests etc
Dainichi grow and show 2011
Please sent your pictures to me by October 14th, with a picture size of 600 x 800 and less than 1meg. Don't forget to let me know the GS number and size at the time of taking your picture.
10% in store
This weekend we are offering 10% on most dry goods in store. We have plenty of food in stock, so why not take advantage of this offer before prices increase?
Japan- Autumn visit
I will be sending a newsletter out next week with more details.
Due to present stock, and new stock which has been grown on this year, we do not intend to buy the numbers of koi we have done in the past. So if you are looking for that special koi this autumn, then please email me your requirements with realistic- variety, size, budget and we will look out for this koi at a discounted price. A picture and video will be placed onto the Japan pages for your no obligation viewing.
Please remember though we cannot offer this service for hobbyists with un-heated ponds.
Weekend opening times
10am till 4pm Saturday and Sunday
Weekdays, closed, mail order only.
See you soon
The Richdon Koi Team.
